Our battalion held a short 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony this morning in front of Legacy High School. Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Solomon Davis, the BC, delivered a historical timeline, words of hope and inspiration, and recognized the fearless firefighters and police officials killed or injured by the terrorist attacks upon American soil. Cadet Major Nadia Channel helped organize the ceremony that was conducted for Legacy students. On that fateful day, foreign-born hijackers used the size, speed, and immense fuel capacity of the aircraft as weapons of mass destruction by flying the planes into America’s premier economic outpost, the World Trade Center. Flight 93, another hijacked aircraft, crashed in Pennsylvania after brave passengers banded together to regain control of the aircraft from terrorists. We honor today those that lost their lives in New York City, Manhattan, and Pennsylvania by flying our flags at half-mast. We know this gesture is a mere token of our actual heartfelt pain over the loss of their lives. May we never forget. And may our nation remain forever vigilant against the threats remaining at home and abroad.
