Legacy JROTC is a co-curricular elective that meets the SB5 endorsement for Public Service. It is also designed to support MISD’s Vision 20/20 Third Guiding Statement. JROTC develops confidence, academic rigor, and teamwork by using the Seven Army Values – “Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage” in all our lessons and labs. JROTC is a kid-led organization, and its growth and success are contingent upon cadet involvement in all processes. Our class usually teaches Physical Fitness, Drill, Technology, and Uniform Appearance weekly. The cadets with passing grades are regularly in competition against other schools at scheduled drill meets. Legacy always brings home hardware after a drill meet, and we have been nationally ranked at drill performance two years in a row. Uniforms are issued free of charge for all cadets. Only the competing cadets are issued PT uniforms to wear at drill meets. Each cadet is expected do their best at all things. Each cadet has unique opportunities to earn rank, responsibility and awards. We have the following teams – CyberPatriot computer cybersecurity, Raider rescue, Drill Team (armed and unarmed), Male/Female Color Guard, Academics, LEAD online challenges, and Male/Female Physical Training.
